Singapore, 13 August 2010 – With exclusive coverage of the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League (BPL) season set to kick off this weekend, Singtel today announced the official launch of the new home of football, mio Stadium and a comprehensive suite of services that promises to take the BPL viewing experience to new heights. Football fans in Singapore will now have unparalleled access to the latest BPL action on TV, mobile and the Internet.
A New World of Interactivity on Your TV
The countdown to a full slate of BPL matches this weekend begins at 7 pm tonight (Friday) with ‘Kick Off’, a football chat programme which looks forward to the upcoming season with Blackburn Manager Sam Allardyce as studio guest.
mio Stadium, accessible on channels 102 to 110 and available in both high definition and standard definition, will offer four locally-produced original programmes to keep BPL fans up-to-date every night. ‘SCORE!’, Tiger ‘Goals on Sunday’, Tiger ‘Passport to the Premier’ and ‘The Goal Mouth’ will feature former ESPN STAR Sports presenter Patrick Kinghorn and familiar local hosts Dominic Lau, Soo Kui Jien and Melody Chen. Singtel is also bringing back local fan favourite John Dykes to present BPL games after a long absence of three seasons. John will be hosting all games together with an array of ex-Premier League managers and players from the studios in London.
Fans will also experience a new world of interactivity and engagement on mio Stadium channels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including a unique “Have Your Say” feature which enables viewers to share their opinions in real-time with the mio TV studio hosts. With the mio TV interactive services, fans can also track live matches; get easy access to league, team and player information; and review fixtures and match predictions. Essentially, football fans can now access everything and anything about the BPL – all from their mio TV remote control.
“Our focus over the last few months has been on creating a new and world-class BPL football experience and we are pleased that it is now making a debut,” said Edward Ying Chief, Content & Media Services, Singtel. “This weekend marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Singtel and BPL fans in Singapore.”
