Singapore, 11 October, 2013 – Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), operator of the largest bouquet of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, announced today the launch of cHK, a brand new general entertainment channel offering cool, chic and contemporary Hong Kong entertainment, on Singtel mio TV in Singapore. A must-watch channel for fans of Hong Kong entertainment, cHK offers the latest blockbusters, celebrity-driven infotainment, trendy lifestyle shows, cutting-edge late night programs and dramas (never before aired in Singapore) all on one channel and in high definition (HD). cHK will be shown in Mandarin but viewers will have the option to watch the channel in the original Cantonese audio track on cHK On Demand. The linear channel will launch on Singtel mio TV on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 7pm, and the on-demand channel the day after.

“We are excited to partner with Singtel mio TV to bring their customers a new choice in Hong Kong entertainment. Hong Kong is known for its exciting movies, television programs, food, fashion and bustling nightlife.  With cHK, we are packaging all this excitement into one contemporary, celebrity-powered channel, in high definition,” said Todd Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Celestial Tiger Entertainment. “Singtel mio TV is an ideal home for cHK.  We look forward to entertaining mio TV's growing subscriber base with a unique blend of Hong Kong entertainment, never before aired in Singapore.” Miller added.

“We are delighted to be the first in Singapore to launch this channel, a welcome new addition to Singtel mio TV’s Asian content suite, which already features a stellar line-up of channels,” said Mr Goh Seow Eng, Managing Director, TV, Singtel. “We launched cHK in response to customer requests, as many have indicated their interest in quality content from Hong Kong. Our self-packaged Jia Le channel, which also screens content in its original dialect, is consistently one of our most watched channels and we believe that cHK will quickly become just as popular.”

cHK will launch with a stellar line up of star-studded programs in a variety of genres. For movies, cHK will premiere the martial arts action epic, The Guillotines, directed by Andrew Lau (Infernal Affairs trilogy) and starring Huang Xiaoming (The Last Tycoon), Ethan Ruan (Monga), and Shawn Yue (Motorway), and Young and Dangerous: Reloaded, the 2013 remake of the iconic Hong Kong franchise starring heartthrob Him Law. Both movies will premiere on cHK’s Saturday Night Blockbuster program block at 9:00pm.

Besides movies, cHK offers viewers numerous celebrity-powered infotainment. Every work week begins and ends with cExpress (Mondays and Fridays at 7pm), a weekly round-up of Hong Kong’s juiciest happenings and showbiz gossip. Then on Sundays, audiences can delve deeper into their favorite stars’ lives by tuning into Star Chatroom (Sundays at 7:30pm), a 1-on-1 interview hosted by veteran entertainment reporter Wang Man Ling. Stars interviewed in October include actress Yoyo Meng, comedy king Chapman To, and veteran actor Felix Wong.

Another new celebrity-based program is Loving Pets (Saturdays at 8pm), a one hour tribute to stars and their animal companions. Hosted by award-winning television star Bernice Liu and personalities Zoie Tam and Jim Kwong, Loving Pets not only showcases celebrities’ furry friends, but also features pet trainers offering helpful advice.

Hong Kong is synonymous with mouth-watering cuisine, and cHK brings viewers an abundance of food-related programs. On October 20, cHK will premiere Master Chef: Martin Yan (Sundays at 8:00pm), a 12-episode series hosted by award-winning cook Martin Yan as he takes you on a journey to his hometown to discover the origins of his cooking. Chef Yan will also introduce viewers to famous local restaurants and how to use fresh local ingredients to prepare delicious meals.

On cHK’s Sunday Night Drama program block at 9:00pm, viewers will be treated to dramas never-seen-before in Singapore. On October 20, cHK will premiere SFC in Action 1 and 2, a crime drama that delves into the world of white collar criminals and the team at the Securities & Futures Commission tasked to bring them to justice. Starring a multitude of famous television stars such as Kwong Wa, Jade Leung, Bernice Liu, and Karena Ng, SFC in Action lifts the curtains on insider trading, market manipulation and securities fraud.

cHK can be viewed on channel 510 and cHK On Demand on channel 511 on Singtel mio TV.  Both channels will be added to the Jingxuan+ Pack – which features over 20 channels from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and China - at no extra charge.

cHK is the ideal complementary channel to CTE’s other Asian entertainment-focused channels, CELESTIAL MOVIES, CELESTIAL CLASSIC MOVIES, KIX HD and Thrill. All of these channels are available on Singtel mio TV.
