ESPN STAR Sports to move to Singtel's mio TV from mid-2010

Singapore, 1 October 2009 -- Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (Singtel) today announced that in addition to winning the Barclays Premier League rights, it has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to a suite of sports networks and services from ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) for its mio TV customers starting from mid-2010. 

Three of the channels are ESPN, STAR Sports and STAR Cricket that are currently available on a cable TV platform.  These are ESS’ current flagship channel offerings, featuring world-class sporting events including The FA Cup, AFC, Formula One, the Australian Open, Wimbledon, The Open Championship (golf) and the U.S. Open Golf Championship.

ESPNEWS, a brand new 24-hours sports news channel, is planned to go ‘live’ on Singtel’s mio TV in November 2009.  The other exclusive sports services will be unveiled soon.
