Singapore
, 15 April 2009 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) announced today that it has launched India’s top English travel and lifestyle channel - NDTV Good Times - on its mio TV platform.
Since its launch in September 2007, NDTV Good Times has consistently outperformed other English lifestyle channels such as Discovery Travel and Living in its home market to emerge as Number 1. At the Indian Television Academy Awards last year, the channel won Best Lifestyle Channel, Best Lifestyle Show for ‘The Making of the Kingfisher Calendar 2008’ and Indy’s Award for Best Lifestyle Channel 2008.
Targeting travellers with a love for the Asian sub-continent as well as a cosmopolitan, socially upbeat audience who enjoys every moment of life, the channel features a wide range of aspirational lifestyle programming on health, fashion, food, travel, luxury and more.
"We are very pleased to collaborate with NDTV to add on this exciting and very entertaining channel to our pay TV platform,” said Mr Low Ka Hoe, Director, IPTV Business, Singtel. “Travel and lifestyle programming is very popular among Singaporeans, and we are sure that our audiences will quickly form a connection with the informative and engaging content on this channel.”
Pet lovers will enjoy ‘Heavy Petting’, a weekly show about dogs, cats, fish, birds, rabbits, snakes and all other creatures big and small who find their way into our hearts and homes. Entertainment junkies will also enjoy the latest Bollywood news with Cut!, an entertainment news magazine programme delivered four times a week.
Simran Bhargava has become something of a household name in India. Her show on NDTV Good Times, ‘One Life to Love’, is arguably one of the best lifestyle talk shows on Indian television. Serious insights, a little humour, active listening and a million-dollar-smile are the trademarks of her show.
‘Gadget Guru’ is a weekly round up of all the latest gadgets, new launches from around the world, product reviews and in depth analysis from Vikram Chandra and Rajiv Makhni.
Vikram Chandra - who is also the CEO of NDTV Networks - is a journalist with over 10 years of experience. His exemplary work has won him laurels not just in India but all
over the world. Known as a reporter par excellence, Vikram has been named ‘Global Leader for Tomorrow’ by the World Economic Forum in Davos.
India's Tech Guru Rajiv Makhni anchors multiple TV shows on technology (one in chaste Hindi), owns a large clothing company (but makes clothes only for women), loves food so much that he ran a chain of restaurants (and samples everything, everyday), was a successful model (and manages to look sufficiently embarrassed about it when asked) and is currently writing a book (not on technology). He is a multiple award-winning columnist and writes for major publications in India and abroad including the Outlook group, Hindustan Times, Mansworld, T3, Travel and Leisure International, The Man, M Magazines etc.
