Singapore, 12 September 2012 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced the launch of a brand new sports channel, mio Sports, on mio TV. mio Sports will bring fans the very best of European Football Leagues such as the Serie A and the FA Cup, as well as the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and Capital One Cup.

mio TV customers now have easy access to a broad line-up of highly popular football tournaments along with over a hundred linear channels including 40 branded FOX International Channels, on-demand blockbuster movies, hot US TV series, quality documentaries, and appealing ethnic content on the mio TV service.

 “As we did with the Community Shield, we worked hard to acquire football content for the fans who have been waiting anxiously for news about the important European tournaments,” said Mr Goh Seow Eng, Managing Director for Television, Singtel. “We are pleased to have closed a deal with MP & Silva that has allowed us to bring all this great content to mio TV, and are particularly happy about securing the FA Cup and Italian Serie A.”

Available from Friday 14 September, mio Sports 1, 2 and 3 will complete mio TV’s football offering by featuring the most comprehensive line-up of the biggest football competitions and leagues, including the English FA Cup, Italian Serie A, Capital One Cup (formerly known as the Carling Cup) as well as England and Italy 2014 home World Cup Qualifiers. Making its debut in Singapore will be the complete season of the increasingly popular French Ligue 1 which includes the new glamour club Paris Saint-Germain, recently in the news after acquiring star players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.

mio Sports 1 (Channel 111) is a 24/7 channel and mio Sports 2 and 3 (Channels 112 and 113) are simulcast channels for matches that are played at the same time. The channels are included in the new Sports+ Pack.

BPL Live Screening

 In true Bro tradition, fans can also look forward to a live screening of the highly-anticipated BPL match between Arsenal and Chelsea on 29 September at the Universal Studios Singapore Hollywood After Party.

All Singtel customers will receive a 25 per cent discount off their entry ticket to the event by flashing their Singtel operator logo or Singtel bill at the onsite ticketing booth at Universal Studios Singapore.

mio TV subscribers stand to win one of 50 pairs of tickets to the event, entry and free flow food and drinks worth $96.
