mio TV introduces two additional 24-hour international channels to cater to German and Tagalog-speaking audience

Deutsche Welle (DW-TV) and GMA Pinoy TV will launch this December on mio TV

Singapore, 30 November 2007 -- Singtel mio TV continues its rapid growth and announces today the launch of two 24-hour international channels: Deutsche Welle (DW-TV) will start broadcasting from 1 December 2007 and GMA Pinoy TV from 15 December 2007.

The content will be streamed via satellite direct from Germany and the Philippines respectively. For a 12-month ala-carte subscription to DW-TV and GMA Pinoy TV, subscribers pay a monthly fee of S$5.35 and S$14.98 respectively, with prices already inclusive of GST.  DW-TV is also available under ‘Mix-A-Pack’ price plan where subscribers enjoy a 30 per cent discount off the ala-carte price.

DW-TV is Germany’s only overseas international channel offering a range of news and programmes on business, finance, lifestyle, culture and entertainment. It will be available on mio TV’s Channel 57. DW-TV broadcasts in German and English with its programming alternating hourly between the two languages.

Selected Highlights on DW-TV:

·   JOURNAL - a 30-minute news programme from Europe with reports, interviews and expert analysis and a comprehensive look at a single issue in politics, business, sports or culture.

·   euromaxx a 30-minute magazine programme covering the latest on lifestyle and entertainment in Europe.

·   Tomorrow Today - a 30-minute science programme that focuses on current topics in research and is aimed at those interested in ongoing projects in Germany and Europe. The show presents a comprehensive overview of the latest trends in science and research.

 

GMA Pinoy TV is the No.1 international channel from the Philippines belonging to GMA Network - the top-rated broadcasting network in the Philippines. Its programmes are in both Tagalog and English and cover across a variety of genres - from news to entertainment programmes. GMA Pinoy TV will be available on mio TV’s Channel 56.

Selected Highlights on GMA Pinoy TV:

·   24 Oras (English translation: 24 Hours) - daily primetime news programme providing up-to-the-minute news locally and around the world.

·   Eat Bulaga (English translation: Surprise!) - The longest-running noontime variety show in the Philippines which won the Best Variety Show award 10 times from the Star Awards for Television by the Philippine Movie Press Club.

·   Bubble Gang - Entertaining commercial spoofs and parodies on popular personalities loved by everyone.
