Singapore, 6 November 2008 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) announced today that Italian football league Serie
A will be available on mio TV from
9 November 2008 on Channel 61.
Subscribers will get to watch up to four live matches each weekend with commentary available in both English and Mandarin.
Additionally, the channel will feature up to 40 hours of on-demandcontent per month, where the featured matches for each weekend will be available free-of-charge to all mio TV customers.
The matches will be accessible on-demand as early as Monday evening under the ‘Free for the Month’ option.
As one of the elite leagues of the football world, Serie A hosts some of the world’s most famous clubs - Inter, Juventus, Milan and Roma - and has produced the biggest number of European Cup finalists.
The league features some of the world’s best football players, such as two-time FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho, seven-time Serie A champion and all-time Juventus top-scorer and appearances leader Alessandro del Piero, last year’s FIFA World Player and European Player of the Year, Kaká and of course, Roma's all-time leading goal-scorer Francesco Totti.
Fans can also look forward to seeing David Beckham play for Milan as early as 12 January when they meet Roma at Stadio Olimpico.
The football star joins the club on loan from 7 January next year after his team, LA Galaxy, finishes its season in the US.

During the 15 minute half-time interval between matches, viewers will be updated on top plays, highlights and interviews. Serie A also has a weekly preview show called
Total Italian Football that previews all the matches for each week and airs 30 minutes before each match.
Singtel will be organising a series of contests where fans stand a chance to win premiums and an expenses-paid trip to Italy to catch the Serie finals worth over $10,000.

mio TV will offer the Serie A channel for the 2008/09 season as a standalone channel at a fee of only $8.00 per month (excluding GST) and subscribers to the recommended basic package - the SuperSaver Pack - will receive the channel this season for free, alongside 24 other lifestyle and entertainment channels at only $19.90.
As a special treat, all mio TV customers can watch the two matches held on 9 November on the free preview channel (Channel 0). They can also tune in to catch the preview shows that start half an hour before each match.
