Singapore, 23 November 2007 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced that from 10 December 2007, Mr Lim Eng will take over the helm at NCS, Singapore’s leading info-comm technology (ICT) company and Singtel’s wholly owned subsidiary.

Mr Lim is currently Singtel’s Group Director of Human Resource, responsible for strategic HR issues for Singtel, NCS and Optus.  He will report to Mr Allen Lew, Singtel’s CEO Singapore.

Dr Chong Yoke Sin, CEO (NCS), has decided to step down on 9 December for personal reasons.  She joined NCS in 1996 and assumed the CEO (NCS) role on 1 August 2005.

Mr Lew said: “Yoke Sin has been the key driving force in NCS and we would like to thank her for her contributions.  We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

“I am sure that Lim Eng, with his strong leadership skills and extensive experience, is the right man for the job to lead NCS and its 4,000-plus employees in more than ten countries to greater heights.  His mandate is to further entrench NCS’ position as the preferred ICT partner in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, China and the Middle East.”

With convergence, ICT is a growing business.  NCS aims to capture an even bigger share of the ICT and professional services spend especially by governments that are embarking on e-government initiatives.

Mr Lim joined Singtel in 1980 and has worked in numerous departments and functions such as corporate business and products.  Prior to his role in HR, he was the President of New Century Info Comm (NCIC), Singtel’s joint venture in Taiwan, where he was responsible for the business and performance of the company.

NCS’ professional services have gained recognition in Singapore and the region.  NCS was ranked No. 1 in Singapore and No. 14 in Asia Pacific for Professional Services in 2006 by Gartner Dataquest and for the third consecutive year, it was also ranked the Singapore Government’s Top IT Services Provider for FY2006.

Besides NCS, the Singapore operations include Business, Consumer, Global and Wholesale, as well as the Networks groups.
