Singapore, 14 November 2007 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced that Mr Mark Chong Chin Kok will be promoted to Executive Vice President of Singtel’s Network Group with effect from 1 January 2008. Mr Chong is currently Singtel’s Vice President of Global Accounts.
As Singtel’s Executive Vice President of Networks, one of the key top management positions in the company, Mr Chong will be responsible for optimising and enhancing the Group’s fixed and wireless networks in Singapore, as well as implementing new network technologies. He will also oversee the roadmap for Singtel’s Next Generation Network such as the National Broadband Network.
He will lead a team of more than 2,400 employees and will report to Mr Allen Lew, Singtel’s CEO Singapore, and Mr Ng Yoke Weng who is the covering Group Chief Technology Officer.
Mr Chong joined Singtel in 1997 and has many years of experience in both the consumer and corporate markets. He has been a key contributor to the company’s growth especially in the corporate market. Under his leadership, the corporate sales team achieved an impressive growth in revenue and maintained leadership in the corporate market. In 1999, he was posted to Shinawatra Paging in Thailand as Managing Director.
New Vice President of Global Accounts
Joining Singtel on 15 November 2007 is Mr Lim Seng Kong, who will assume Mr Chong’s current portfolio. Mr Lim will be responsible for managing and driving the growth of Singtel’s business with its major corporate accounts.
He reports to Mr Bill Chang, Singtel’s Executive Vice President of the Business Group under Singtel’s Singapore operations.
Mr Lim was previously Regional Director, ASEAN, at Datacraft Asia Ltd, taking care of operations in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand.
Singtel’s Singapore operations, headed by Mr Allen Lew, comprise Business, Consumer, Global and Wholesale, NCS and Networks.
