Singtel and SAP revolutionise business management for SMEs through the cloud

  • Business Solutions

Business management and ERP on-demand and on-the-go, with up to 60% cost savings

Singapore, 23 August 2011 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) and SAP today announced the launch of the SAP Business One hosted on Singtel PowerON cloud-based business management solution for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).  The solution gives SMEs the freedom to streamline and manage their sales, customer relationships, inventory, business processes and operations on-the-move via internet-enabled smartphones, tablets and PCs.

Powered by Singtel’s cloud computing capabilities, the solution is offered on a monthly subscription basis.  SMEs do not need to make upfront investments in equipment and can avoid the ongoing costs of managing and maintaining complex systems and hardware.  This allows them to save up to 60% on their operating costs and reduces the set-up time from months to days.  (See Annex 1 for detailed cost calculation).  Companies can then make the most of their scarce resources and focus on their core business activities.  In addition, they pay only for what they use and enjoy the flexibility to scale their requirements on-demand to meet immediate business needs.

Key features:

  • Mobility Manage customers, inventory and sales information and carry out approvals on-the-move via smartphones, tablets and PCs.  Saves time and boosts productivity.
  • Business management – Automate, integrate, and manage all business processes.
  • Warehouse and production management – Manage inventory across multiple warehouses, track stock movements, and manage production orders based on material requirements planning.
  • Customer relationship management – Grow customer profitability and increase customer satisfaction with effective sales and opportunity management, and after-sales support.
  • Purchasing – Automate procurement processes from purchase order to vendor invoice payment.
  • Intelligence and Reporting on the Go –Act on instant and complete information with comprehensive, real-time reports with award winning Crystal Reports.

Mr Bill Chang, Singtel’s Executive Vice President of Business Group, said: “Singtel is excited to work with SAP to offer Singapore SMEs a truly world-class business management solution that will help them gain a vital competitive edge.”

“By bringing together fixed, mobile and cloud technologies, we enable SMEs to run their operations seamlessly from any location, at any time and on any device they choose.  This allows them to improve their productivity, increase business agility and reduce their operating costs significantly.  This is the power of fixed mobile cloud convergence unleashed, and we have many more ground breaking innovations to come,” he said.

Mr Tim Moylan, SAP Southeast Asia President, said: "We are delighted that Singtel is the first telecommunications provider in Asia to deliver the SAP Business One solution through the cloud.  The solution will transform how SMEs conduct their businesses anytime, anywhere. Singapore’s time is now. The market is at the cusp of change. Mobility and cloud are more than just buzzwords but are starting a real revolution in business information technology.”

Moylan further added, “SMEs need to be empowered with innovations like mobility, on demand services and cloud solutions, so that they can keep their costs low, steadily grow their business and stay ahead of the competition.”
