Singtel Committed to Raise $2 million for the 2013 Programme
Singapore, 30 August 2013 – Over S$800,000 was raised at Singtel’s annual charity golf event held today, thanks to the generous support from business partners and associates. The funds go to the six beneficiaries adopted by the Singtel Touching Lives Fund (STLF).
Set up in 2002, the STLF raises funds to support children and youths with special needs. For the 2013 STLF programme, the adopted beneficiaries are APSN Chaoyang and Tanglin Schools, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore School, Eden School, MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School and Singapore Cancer Society.
Every dollar raised goes to Singtel’s beneficiaries. Singtel bears all fundraising costs. Along with the charity golf, Singtel also encourages an in-house donation drive where it matches dollar-for-dollar contributions from its employees. This is over and above Singtel’s own contribution to the STLF. Singtel is committed to raise S$2 million for its 2013 STLF programme.
“It is our hope that the skills taught to these children and youth will enable them to lead more independent lives. The programmes run by our beneficiaries are essential in helping them realise their potential and aspirations,” said Ms Jeann Low, Chairman of the STLF and Singtel’s Group CFO.
“Our partners and associates have also played a big part in our community programme. We are encouraged by their unwavering support and I thank them for sharing our cause,” added Ms Low.
The Singtel Charity Golf was held at the Tanah Merah Country Club with Singtel senior management and its regional mobile associates among 145 golfers who teed off this afternoon.
