Singapore, 13 December, 2016 – Singtel has won the Best Enterprise Service Award for its Singtel ConnectPlus Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) service at the World Communication Awards 2016 ceremony, which was recently held in London. The Singtel ConnectPlus SD-WAN is a self-service portal that helps enterprises reduce operating costs by providing a single point of control over their network requirements, regardless of the number of physical locations and networking devices used.
Mr Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer, Group Enterprise at Singtel said, “As more enterprises migrate technologies to the cloud, they have to deal with more complex communications frameworks. Our service allows enterprises to simplify and centralise their network management. This award is a global recognition of our software-defined capabilities which help enterprises enhance their productivity, network efficiency and scalability.”
The judging panel picked Singtel as the winner in the category which counted Telstra, PCCW and Vodafone among the finalists. In conferring the award to Singtel, the judging panel acknowledged that unifying disparate networks is a major issue in the industry and Singtel had provided a suitable solution to the problem. "Singtel's entry is right on trend, which is what we look for in this category,” said a member of the judging panel.
In addition to Singtel ConnectPlus SD-WAN service, Singtel has also launched other software-defined services such as Singtel Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) and Data Centre Interconnect services. The former allows enterprises to replicate their router and firewall hardware as software-based services which are hosted in Singtel’s cloud. The latter allows enterprises to seamlessly access and move their workloads between multiple data centres and various cloud services through a single connection.
