Singtel donates 2 million Baht to Thailand’s flood relief efforts

Singapore
, 17 October 2011 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced that it has donated 2 million Baht to help the communities affected by the severe flooding in Thailand.

On 14 October 2011, Ms Aileen Tan, Singtel’s Group Director of Human Resource, presented the cheque to the Prime Minister of Thailand, Ms Yingluck Shinawatra, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ms Tan said, “We are saddened by the plight of the Thai people resulting from the worst flood in Thailand in 30 years.  Together with AIS, our regional mobile associate in Thailand, we want to extend our assistance to the local people.

“We hope that our donation to the Office of the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund will help to alleviate the situation. Our thoughts are with the Thai people during this difficult time.”

Two months ago when the flood began, Intouch Group comprising Intouch, AIS and Thaicom jointly donated 5 million Baht to the Office of the Prime Minister.  On Thursday last week, AIS and Intouch Group added 30 million Baht to their donation to the Thai government in providing emergency aid to the flood victims.
