Singapore
, 7 August 2009 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced that it will be giving all Singapore football fans the chance to enjoy Football Frenzy on mio TV for free till 31 October 2009.
This is the first time that a pay TV operator in Singapore is offering free ‘live’ European football with absolutely no strings attached. Singtel currently holds the rights to the Italian Serie A, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. All three tournaments will be included in this exciting offering.
The offer will be made available to all 100,000 plus mio TV customers, and the Football Frenzy channels and on-demand library will be automatically turned on by 17 August.
All new customers who sign up for a new mio TV or mio Home connection from tomorrow to 31 August will also enjoy the offer.
An offer that even non-Singtel customers can enjoy
Even those who are not Singtel customers stand to benefit. Any football fan with a sports channel cable TV subscription will also qualify for the free service. To enjoy the offer, these customers simply have to visit any Singtel store between 8 August and 30 September 2009 ¨ with their identity card and most recent cable TV bill.
To sweeten the deal even further, the free service will include complimentary installation of the mio TV Set-Top Box and modem. There are absolutely no upfront or hidden costs involved. The only condition is that a Singtel fixed phone line is required to enjoy the service.
With the Set-Top Box installed, these customers will also enjoy a month-long trial of mio TV’s full range of content.
At the end of the free viewing period, customers who wish to continue watching the matches can call the mio TV hotline at 1800 555 6000 to sign up for a Football Frenzy Pack with additional discounts. Those who do not wish to continue with the service can just return the equipment within a month.
“We hear what football fans are saying about the escalating costs of watching their favourite sport, and this is our gift to them, with absolutely no strings attached. We are very pleased to be able to connect with football fans in Singapore in this manner and believe that they will enjoy watching all the UEFA matches either ‘live’ or on-demand at their leisure,” said Mr Edward Ying, Chief, Content & Media Services, Singtel.
Football Frenzy
The Football Frenzy service, which was announced early last month, will kick off with the upcoming UEFA season on the night of August 18. For the first time ever, fans in Singapore will be able to catch all 146 UEFA Champions League matches both ‘live’ or via ‘replay’ on-demand, as many as 149 UEFA Europa League matches, and over 120 Serie A matches.
The service features three dedicated linear channels and one on-demand channel. Football Frenzy (Channel 61) is a 24x 7 linear channel where fans can catch the preview and highlight shows as well as the ‘live’ matches. Along with the two simulcast channels (Channel 62 & 63), as many as three ‘live’ matches will be screened simultaneously.
From as early as 7am on the morning that the match is played, fans can also watch a replay of the matches anytime on-demand on Channel 600, with access to all UEFA Champions League and up to 149 UEFA Europa League matches played.
The triple-screen Football Frenzy Pack costs $15.90 per month for a 12-month subscription period. New mio Home customers can also sign up for a 12 month Football Frenzy Pack and enjoy two months free subscription. All customers are not required to subscribe to a basic tier in order to access this package.
Football Frenzy is also available in a range of flexible subscription options on the Internet and mobile. For more information, visit The Singtel Stadium
