Personalised portfolio tracking and real-time currency conversion
Singapore, 21 May 2008 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) announced it will launch Bloomberg’s new multi-faceted application for mobile devices exclusively to Singtel postpaid mobile customers. This also marks the world launch of Bloomberg’s mobile service.
This interactive service allows Singtel mobile customers to create a personalised portfolio to track the performance of their shares and stock exchange indices from the comprehensive suite of investment tools and services available. Customers, for the first time ever, will have access to a currency conversion calculator using real-time exchange rates.
These unique features are in addition to Bloomberg’s up-to-the-minute, market moving financial and world news, as well as stock quotes from major stock exchanges (refer to Annex A for service features and subscription details). Bloomberg’s mobile service will be available from 22 May 2008.
Mr Low Ka Hoe, Singtel’s Director of IPTV and Content, said: “We are delighted to be the first in the world to offer this interactive
service to our growing base of mobile customers who are constantly on the move. Singtel is committed to providing our customers with value-added services. Our customers will find this Bloomberg service extremely useful and valuable as they are able to keep up to date with the latest world financial news anytime and anywhere.”
Mr Jimmy Kim, Head of Network Development and New Media at Bloomberg Television Asia-Pacific, said: "We are pleased to be partnering Singtel for the global launch of Bloomberg’s mobile service. This will be a compelling product for Bloomberg business partners and viewers, whose demand for reliable and accurate business and financial news and information can now be served wherever they may be. Choosing Singtel as our partner for this worldwide product is a reflection of our confidence both in Singtel’s platform and in Singapore as a new media market."
Singtel postpaid mobile customers can look forward to rich multimedia content such as exclusive video-on-demand and podcasts and live TV streaming from Bloomberg in the next three months.
Following the Singapore launch, Bloomberg plans to extend this service to other countries and territories in Southeast Asia and Greater China by the end of 2008, with further expansion plans for 2009.
