Singapore, 23 August 2010 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced the appointment of Mr Hui Weng Cheong as CEO International (designate), effective 1 October 2010. He will formally assume the role on 1 December 2010, succeeding Mr Lim Chuan Poh who is retiring from the Group.
Mr Hui’s appointment is the culmination of an extensive search, both within the Group and externally.
Mr Hui, 55 years of age, joined Singtel in 1980 and has more than 30 years of experience at the Singtel Group. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer with the Group’s Thai associate, Advanced Info Service (AIS), where he is responsible for sales and marketing, network operations, IT solutions as well as customer and services management.
During his time at AIS, Mr Hui has helped shape its marketing and product focus, and rationalise the sales and distribution channels. Prior to his appointment to AIS, he held several roles within the Group including Vice President of Consumer Products while concurrently serving as CEO SingNet and Singtel Paging. Among his achievements are the successful launch of 3G services, broadband and other products that have created significant differentiation and success for the Singtel Group in Singapore.
