Manchester United and Chelsea Battle for Supremacy on Brink of Season
Singapore, 4 August 2010 – Singtel kicks off its exclusive coverage of Barclays Premier League (BPL) football this Sunday with the annual FA Community Shield, a match traditionally pitting the previous season’s BPL and FA Cup champions against each other. This year’s clash features rivals Manchester United and Chelsea battling to seize the early momentum in a thrilling curtain raiser to the 2010/11 BPL season.
What is exceptional about the 2010 Community Shield is that Chelsea holds both BPL and FA Cup titles, thus allowing BPL runners up Manchester United a shot at the Shield.
Singtel also announced that the FA Community Shield will be broadcast live during prime time on both mio TV’s ESPN HD (Channel 117) and MediaCorp Channel 5, bringing fans all over Singapore the exciting kick off to the next BPL season.
“We’re excited to bring this historic match featuring some of the best players in the world to the entire community, a first for Singapore. This is a great opportunity to share our passion for football with every fan, and we know they’ll come away feeling good about what we have in store for them this season,” said Edward Ying, Chief of Content and Media Services at Singtel.
The FA Community Shield will be shown from 10pm on mio TV ESPN HD (Channel 117) and on the free-to-air Channel 5.
Singtel also urged football fans to sign up for its BPL and ESPN Star Sports Package soon to ensure installation in time for kick off on 14 August.
