Three new locally-produced football supplementary programmes

Fully-sponsored live BPL screenings at 24 Community Centres islandwide

Singapore, 15 August 2014 – The new Barclays Premier League (BPL) season kicks off tomorrow with free Community Centre screenings and three new locally-produced football programmes.

Goals Express, Goals HQ, and Football 360 will bring football fans highlights and in-depth coverage of all the BPL matches and teams. Hosts Richard Lenton, Jamie Yeo and Tabitha Nauser will recap the goals and controversies of all the biggest games.

Live screenings for football fans at CCs

Following positive feedback from the World Cup screening at Community Clubs (CCs), the People’s Association (PA) and Singtel will extend their partnership to offer live Barclays Premier League (BPL) screening for residents to enjoy football matches at the CCs.

Twenty-four Community Clubs will screen selected BPL matches throughout the 10-month season which kicks-off on Saturday, 16 August 2014. The live screenings are free for all residents. As with the recent World Cup screenings, they can also sign up for various interest groups, programmes and learn more about CC events and activities during the screenings.

Mr Goh Seow Eng, MD of TV, Singtel, said, “We were heartened to see the community  gather in large numbers at the Community Centres to support their favourite teams during last season’s BPL as well as during the recently-concluded 2014 FIFA World Cup. This is why we have decided to continue providing these free screenings. Football fans can also expect specially-produced football programmes for a more immersive BPL-viewing experience.”

Mr Ang Hak Seng, BBM, Chief Executive Director, PA said, “The People’s Association is happy to continue our partnership with Singtel to bring the BPL to the CCs to benefit more residents.  Not only will residents be able to cheer for their favourite teams together with their families, friends and neighbours, they will also be able to sign up for a variety of sports activities and interest groups during the live screenings.”

The CCs will commence BPL screening in phases and details will be made available on PA’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PAFrenz). Residents are strongly encouraged to contact the CCs directly for the latest match screening schedules.  Buona Vista CC and Tampines West CC will screen the first match of the new BPL season between Manchester United and Swansea City on Saturday, 16 August 2014 at 7.45pm.
