Singtel payphones offer affordable $2 top-up for prepaid mobile

First in Singapore, 24x7 service offers smallest denomination for prepaid mobile top-up

Singapore, 15 July  2008 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced the launch of its $2 EASY Top-Up service on payphones, the first of its kind in Singapore to be made available to Singtel prepaid mobile customers.
 
The convenient service allows all Singtel prepaid mobile customers to top-up their prepaid mobile phone accounts anytime at selected Singtel payphones islandwide.  Each top-up from the payphones is $2, the smallest top-up denomination available in the market.  
 
Mr Wong Soon Nam, Singtel’s Vice President of Consumer Marketing, said :  “We are pleased to be the first service provider to introduce this innovative EASY Top-Up service, which offers greater convenience and flexibility to our prepaid mobile customers.  
 
“Tapping on the experiences of our regional associates, small top-ups have proven to be very popular with certain groups of customers.  We believe that the affordable $2 top-up value will greatly benefit our customers, including those from the foreign worker segment, who may need to make a short phone call on their mobile but do not wish to top-up their prepaid account in higher denominations.”
 
Customers can top-up by inserting $2 worth of coins or a chip phonecard and pressing the “EASY Top-Up” hot button.  Voice prompts, available in English, Mandarin, Bengali and Tamil, will guide them through the simple process (Please refer to Annex A for illustration of the payphone).   
 
The EASY Top-Up feature will be installed on 1,000 payphones islandwide by 25 July 2008.   The payphones with the new feature can be found at shopping malls as well as worker dormitories, making it very convenient for customers to top-up their prepaid mobile accounts and chat with their loved ones any time. 
 
Singtel today offers a range of convenient top-up options to its prepaid mobile customers. They include:
 
  • Top-Up Cards (smallest denomination is $10)
  • AXS Stations, SAMs and inStore Top-ups
  • DBS/POSB ATMs
  • Postpaid customers can top-up for Singtel mobile prepaid services by calling *1355
  • Singtel residential phone line via 1900-914 1488
