Singtel publishes its inaugural Sustainability Report
Singapore, 26 October 2010 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced the publication of its inaugural Sustainability Report for financial year ended 31 March 2010.
Available online at http://info.singtel.com/about-us/sustainability/sustainability-report, the report ‘Changing the game; Creating sustainability’ covers Singtel’s sustainability framework comprising marketplace, people, environment and community. It provides an overview of the company’s approach, priorities and performance in the area of sustainability for its business operations in Singapore.
This is the first sustainability report published by a major player in the infocomm and multimedia sector in Singapore. It adopts the reporting principles from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 Guidelines and follows the requirements of the ‘B’ Application level.
Ms Chua Sock Koong, Singtel Group CEO, said: “Singtel aims to be a leading multimedia and ICT solutions provider by increasing shareholder value, being an employer of choice and supporting community development, while managing our environmental footprint in the markets where we operate.
“This report marks a significant milestone for Singtel as it demonstrates our continued commitment to engaging stakeholders in our sustainability vision, goals and practices. Through this report, we hope to provide a better appreciation of how we intend to drive improvements across our operations.”
With this report, Singtel joins the ranks of five other companies in Singapore whose sustainability reports have been checked by GRI. Optus, Singtel’s wholly-owned subsidiary in Australia, has been producing its Corporate Responsibility reports since 2000.
