Six beneficiaries from Singtel Touching Lives Fund to benefit from donations
SINGAPORE, 28 August 2015 – Singtel’s charity golf event raised a record breaking S$1 million for the beneficiaries of the Singtel Touching Lives Fund (STLF). Held at the Sentosa Golf Club today, the event drew strong support from business partners and associates who contributed generously to the fundraising effort.
Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, Chairman of the STLF and CEO Consumer Singapore at Singtel, said, “We are extremely pleased to have achieved a new record with over $1 million raised at our charity golf event. Many of our business partners have been supporting our cause for well over a decade - from when the STLF was launched in 2002. I thank them for their unwavering support and generous donations.
“At Singtel, we believe that every child should be given the opportunity to succeed and have a bright future. The funds raised will go towards programmes that will help children and youth with special needs realise their full potential and lead more independent lives.”
The Singtel charity golf event is the company’s anchor fundraising event for the STLF, which helps charities that offer critical and specialised education, as well as support programmes for children and youth with special needs.
In addition to the annual charity golf event, Singtel also runs a year-round in-house donation drive where contributions from employees are matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. Every dollar contributed to the STLF goes directly to Singtel’s beneficiaries, as the company bears all fundraising costs.
Singtel staff also devote many volunteering hours to students from the beneficiaries. In August, 120 volunteers celebrated SG50 with the students at APSN Tanglin School and even concocted a SG50 Mocktail which was served at the charity event today. In April, 50 volunteers ran the Singtel Cyber Wellness Amazing Race to encourage good cyber wellness habits among children. Every year, Singtel staff also organise a day-long carnival packed with treats, games and entertainment for students.
Beneficiaries adopted by the STLF include APSN Chaoyang School, APSN Tanglin School, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore School, Eden School, MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School and Singapore Cancer Society’s "SCS Help the Children and Youth" programme.
The S$1 million raised from today’s event will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Government, under the Care & Share Movement led by Community Chest. The Movement is part of SG50, and the matched amount will go towards building the capabilities and capacities of the social service sector to meet rising needs.

About Singtel Touching Lives Fund
The Singtel Touching Lives Fund is Singtel’s annual corporate philanthropy programme to help the less privileged children and young people in Singapore. It was launched in 2002 to consolidate the Group’s community support activities. The Fund has since raised over S$30 million for more than 20 charities under the auspices of the National Council of Social Service.

APSN Chaoyang School
The School provides special education for children with mild intellectual disability and autism, aged 7-12 years. The aim of the school programme is to provide education and training to enable the children to have the necessary skills, attitude and personality to lead normal, independent lives in adulthood.

Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) School
The CPAS School serves students aged 7-18 years, diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Due to their condition, students often require specialised and intensive rehabilitation through therapy intervention. CPAS School provides individual or group therapy sessions with speech therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.

Eden School
Eden School provides education and training to help children with moderate to severe autism aged 6 to 18 years old to acquire the necessary skills, attitude and personality to lead normal independent lives in adulthood.

The MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School provides a basic foundation in independence and employment skills to serve children aged 5 to 18 years with intellectual disabilities. Singapore Cancer Society (SCS)
The Singapore Cancer Society is a community-based voluntary health organisation dedicated to minimising the impact of cancer through public education, screening, patient services, financial assistance, research and advocacy. Singtel is the title sponsor of the Race Against Cancer and we pledge S$250,000 to the "SCS Help the Children and Youth" programme, which helps children and youth who are cancer patients or whose parents or siblings have cancer.
