Singapore, 26 October 2007 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced that it has shortlisted Bates, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy & Mather, and Saatchi & Saatchi to participate in the next phase of its creative agency pitch process.

Last month, Singtel announced that it was inviting world-class creative agencies to be its strategic long-term creative partner.

Ms Sherie Ng, Singtel’s Director of Brand Experience, said: “We are very delighted that more than ten global agencies with proven track record, well-established local operations housing some of the world’s most creative talents are vying for this business.

“All demonstrated inspiring creativity, result-driven marketing, disciplined processes and operations, as well as outstanding talent management engines.  This made the shortlisting extremely challenging.  After a rigorous evaluation process, we have selected these agencies to move into the next phase of the pitch.”

Incumbent Y&R has declined to participate in Singtel’s creative agency pitch process.

Mr Tanuj Philip, Managing Director of Y&R Singapore, said: “Having worked together so closely, for so long we believe both parties could benefit from new relationships, new perspectives and new challenges.  So whilst we continue to wish Singtel all the best in the future, we look forward to an exciting new era for Y&R.”

Commenting on Y&R’s decision, Ms Ng said: “We thank Y&R for their dedication.  We also appreciate Y&R’s professionalism to ensure a smooth transition until the new agency is appointed.”

Singtel expects to appoint its strategic creative partner by the end of this year.
