Singtel to suspend outdoor operations due to haze situation

  • Community

Singapore, 25 September 2015 -- Singtel will be reprioritising its field work services for all outdoor operations, including home/office installations and maintenance, due to the worsening haze situation in Singapore.

Singtel will continue to provide critical services to support communication for the public, government agencies and businesses. Frontline services, including Singtel shops and customer care centres, remain in operation.

Under Singtel’s contingency plan, once the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reaches hazardous level (above 300) and continues into the subsequent hour, it will temporarily suspend outdoor operations to ensure the safety and well-being of its staff and contractors. These include work on roof tops, car parks, roadsides and traffic junctions.

If the PSI level goes above 350, home/office installations and maintenance will stop. Affected customers will be contacted to reschedule their appointments to a later time.

Singtel will assess the haze situation and resume field services when possible. We seek our customers’ understanding for any inconvenience this may cause.

For its 13,000 employees in Singapore, Singtel will be distributing one N95 mask and one surgical mask each as part of its efforts to step up precautionary measures against the haze.
