Singapore, 1 August 2017 – Singtel has topped the Singapore Governance and Transparency Index (SGTI) 2017 for the third consecutive year. The results of the annual index, which ranked more than 600 SGX-listed companies, were released today by CPA Australia, NUS Business School’s Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations, and the Singapore Institute of Directors.

Ms Chua Sock Koong, Singtel Group CEO, said “Singtel is honoured to again be named Singapore’s most well-governed and transparent company. We believe that strong corporate governance is the foundation for sustainable growth and long-term value creation, and constantly seek to ensure that it reflects the rapidly changing business environment that we operate in. This award is a great recognition for our more than 25,000 employees who bring our core values to life in their interactions with our stakeholders every day.”

The SGTI is the benchmark for corporate governance assessments among SGX-listed companies. Companies were assessed on board responsibilities, rights of shareholders, accountability and audit, disclosure and conduct as well as engagement of shareholders.
