STLF raises S$861,000 at kick-off Charity Golf event
Singapore, 31 August 2012 – Singtel Touching Lives Fund (STLF) today raised a record S$861,000 from its annual charity golf event. This is with generous support and participation from Singtel’s business partners and associates. For 2012, STLF, Singtel’s philanthropy programme, aims to raise over S$2 million for six beneficiary organisations.
The Singtel Charity Golf event is held this afternoon at the Singapore Island Country Club, where representatives from 31 companies will tee off with Singtel’s management.
Funds raised make a big difference for students like Jane Lee from APSN Tanglin School. Jane was diagnosed with mild intellectual deficiency at 12 years old. Since she joined the school in 2010, Jane has blossomed from a shy, timid girl to an active, award-winning student, having received the Ministry of Education Achievement Awards for Literacy and Numeracy and the Model Student Award in 2011.
Jeann Low, Chairman of the STLF and Singtel’s Group CFO, said: “We are grateful for the support from our partners and associates. They share our dedication to give back to the community and have generously supported our cause.”
“The funds raised go towards helping children and young people with special needs in Singapore. We hope that together with the support of our partners, customers, employees and members of the public, we can contribute meaningfully to their development.”
In addition to making its own contribution to the STLF, Singtel fully underwrites the fund raising costs including expenses for the golf event. This practice has been in place since its launch in 2002 to ensure every dollar raised goes towards the work of the charities supported by STLF.
All funds raised in 2012 will be donated to six beneficiaries: APSN Chaoyang School, APSN Tanglin School, Eden School, MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School, Singapore Cancer Society’s Help the Children and Youth Programme, as well as Spastic Children’s Association School.
Singtel customers and the public can make donations to STLF via our hotlines (1900 112 8811 and *8111), which are open until December 2012. Each call is a S$5 donation. Singtel will waive the GST and hotline charges so that the full proceeds go to charity.

About Singtel Touching Lives Fund
The Singtel Touching Lives Fund is Singtel’s annual corporate philanthropy programme to help the less privileged children and young people in Singapore. It was launched in 2002 to consolidate the Group’s community support activities. The Fund has since raised over S$22 million for 22 charities under the auspices of the National Council of Social Service.

MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School
The MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School provides a basic foundation in independence and employment skills to serve children aged 5 to 18 years with intellectual disabilities.
It aims to develop each child to his or her fullest potential with the long-term objective of enhancing the child's prospects of integrating into mainstream society.

Singapore Cancer Society (SCS)
The Singapore Cancer Society is a community-based voluntary health organisation dedicated to minimising the impact of cancer through public education, screening, patient services, financial assistance, research and advocacy.
Singtel is the title sponsor of the Race Against Cancer and we pledge S$200,000 to the "SCS Help the Children and Youth" programme, which helps children and youths who are cancer patients or whose parents or siblings have cancer.

Spastic Children’s Association School
SCAS School serves students aged 7-18 years, diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Due to their condition, students often require specialised and intensive rehabilitation through therapy intervention. SCAS School provides individual or group therapy sessions with speech therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
