Nearly S$28 million raised over the last 12 years
Singapore, 31 March 2014 – Singtel’s Comcentre was a hive of activity this Monday as Singtel Touching Lives Fund’s (STLF) beneficiaries were presented with a cheque of S$2.75 million. This brings the total amount the STLF has raised to nearly S$28 million over 12 years.
The funds were raised from a series of activities that was generously supported by Singtel employees, business partners and members of the public, as well as from contributions from the organisation itself.
To mark the occasion, the children, their caregivers and teachers from the STLF beneficiaries were also treated to a movie screening of “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”, lunch, popcorn, candy floss and ice-cream.
Ms Jeann Low, Singtel Group CFO and STLF Chairperson, said: “We would like to thank everyone who has so generously contributed to the STLF – colleagues, business partners, members of the public who have so readily responded to our appeal for donations, and colleagues who have volunteered time with the beneficiaries.”
“Here at Singtel, we are committed to making an impact on the communities around us. The funds raised will go towards educational programmes that will help over 1,000 children and youth realise their potential and aspirations.”
In addition to the fund raising, Singtel staff has also organised over 20 activities and spent over 5,000 hours volunteering with the STLF beneficiaries in the past year.
The six beneficiaries adopted by the STLF are APSN Chaoyang School, APSN Tanglin School, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore School, Eden School, MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School and Singapore Cancer Society.
The STLF is Singtel’s corporate philanthropy programme in support of children and youths in Singapore with special needs. Since its inception in 2002, the fund has touched the lives of children and youth from 24 charities under the auspices of the National Council of Social Service. Singtel underwrites all expenses of this fundraising event so every dollar raised goes directly to the beneficiaries.

APSN Chao Yang School
The School provides special education for children with mild intellectual disability and autism, aged 7-12 years. The aim of the school programme is to provide education and training to enable the children to have the necessary skills, attitude and personality to lead normal, independent lives in adulthood.

The APSN Tanglin School provides special education for children with mild intellectual disability, aged 13-16 years. The special education programme aims to enable children to have the necessary skills, attitude and personality to lead normal and independent lives in adulthood.

Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) School
The CPAS School serves students aged 7-18 years, diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Due to their condition, students often require specialised and intensive rehabilitation through therapy intervention. CPAS School provides individual or group therapy sessions with speech therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.

Eden School
Eden School provides education and training to help children with moderate to severe autism aged 6 to 18 years old to acquire the necessary skills, attitude and personality to lead normal independent lives in adulthood.

MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School
The MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School provides a basic foundation in independence and employment skills to serve children aged 5 to 18 years with intellectual disabilities. It aims to develop each child to his or her fullest potential with the long-term objective of enhancing the child's prospects of integrating into mainstream society.

Singapore Cancer Society (SCS)
The Singapore Cancer Society is a community-based voluntary health organisation dedicated to minimising the impact of cancer through public education, screening, patient services, financial assistance, research and advocacy. Singtel is the title sponsor of the Race Against Cancer and we pledge S$200,000 to the "SCS Help the Children and Youth" programme, which helps children and youth who are cancer patients or whose parents or siblings have cancer.
