Over 60 mio TV subscribers will win an all-expenses paid trip to their game of choice
Fresh programming every single night during the season
Singapore, 15 January 2010 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced its plans to create the best ever Barclays Premier League experience for football fans in Singapore. Having secured the rights to the Barclays Premier League for the 2010-2013 seasons, Singtel aims to deliver a mix of rich and more extensive programming over a broader range of platforms by utilising cutting-edge technology and high quality editorial talent.
Singtel will engage fans in Singapore in a manner that they have never experienced by increasing the bond between fans and their teams through a range of activities on the ground in Singapore and in stadiums across the UK.
Mr Allen Lew, Singtel’s CEO of Singapore, said, “We are taking this opportunity to give football fans in Singapore an unrivalled experience. We aim to do all we can to bring the best to the fans. Singtel’s Barclays Premier League offering will use better technology to bring higher quality editorial content across multiple viewing platforms.
“Fans in Singapore have never had so many options or so much interactivity, and we are even giving them the rare chance to be close to their favourite stars in their favourite stadiums. This is truly an experience that money cannot buy.”
mio TV brings the best and freshest football programming – every night
The new programming on mio TV is a response to the feedback from football fans in Singapore, who want more interactivity, more insightful commentary and higher quality production. For the first time ever, fans will be able to see all 380 matches of the Barclays Premier League in Singapore.
mio TV will also be bringing “home” the production of football content to studios in Singapore. Well-respected hosts and pundits will feature in the “live” football coverage for next season, and fans can also expect several famous ex-Barclays Premier League stars to make appearances in Singapore. The “live” match coverage will be produced in HD and will feature 3D telestration,
mio TV’s stable of Barclays Premier League programmes amounts to a total of nine shows, including three official Barclays Premier League productions and six original productions. This means that fans looking for the Premier League fix can count on a fresh quality programme to tune in to every night of the week. The seven-day broadcast schedule will feature programming that caters to a range of fans – from the newly converted Barclays Premier League supporter to the die-hard fan.
A Sunday morning highlights show will offer comprehensive analysis, full highlights and full studio presentation. This is something that has not been seen in Singapore in the last three years. Another offering will be the fans feedback show, which will feature a full review of the weekend action and allow interaction via a combination of video, email and SMS.
Bringing fans close to the teams and players
Singtel will also engage football fans in Singapore by “bringing the game to the fans and bringing fans to the game”. This will include a mix of local initiatives as well as several initiatives to give supporters a chance to bond with the players and staff of their favourite clubs in a manner that some can only dream of.
During each week of the season next year, Singtel will take two lucky fans to any Barclays Premier League game of their choice. This means that over the course of the season, over 60 mio TV customers will enjoy an all-expenses paid trip to the UK to watch their favourite team play. Winners of this weekly competition will enjoy the full corporate experience when they are at the Barclays Premier League game.
In addition, every month, one lucky viewer will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of the mio TV crew on-site in the UK. This will allow them to access areas of the stadium where no member of the public can go. They will be able to experience what goes on at a club’s training ground, stand pitch-side on match day, attend press interviews after the game, and get up close and personal with some of the game’s biggest stars.
In addition to those efforts to “bring fans to the game”, there will also be more engagement of fans in Singapore, with monthly on-ground events for both football and non-football fans. These events will feature fun, excitement and give a taste of that “big game” feeling at venues around Singapore.
With changing habits and increased sophistication of consumers due to the use of smartphone technology, Singtel will also ramp up on mobile coverage of the matches. Fans will be able to live the excitement of the Barclays Premier League on their mobile phones through a customisable content offering. This will include video action such as exclusive goal clips and match highlights, as well as news, goal alerts and other compelling sports content. Barclays Premier League news with pictures will be offered through an iPhone application, and there will also be an option for consumers to receive “live” streaming matches and video-on-demand content.
From now till the end of January, customers who sign up for either the Barclays Premier League 2010/11 season or Barclays Premier League 2010/11 with ESPN Star Sports Channels on a 12-month subscription basis will receive the Football Frenzy Pack (worth $15.90 per month) absolutely free till 31 July 2010.
