Singtel ushers in a new era of business ICT solutions

Singtel’s enterprise-grade ‘elastic’ ICT services break new ground

More than 100,000 users power their businesses with Singtel cloud services

Singtel aims to grow cloud services at 50% CAGR over next 3 years

Singapore, 16 September 2010 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced it will usher in a new era for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry with the launch of intelligent on-demand ICT solutions and services for businesses. Singtel will unveil these next-generation intelligent business solutions at i.Luminate 2010, the region’s largest business innovations forum.

As an industry breakthrough, Singtel will offer enterprises the flexibility to consume their ICT services on-demand and scale them in real time. This new ‘elastic’ capability will provide enterprises with unprecedented business agility and allow them to significantly lower their operating costs. It will be offered for Singtel’s business applications, computing and storage resources, as well as infrastructure and managed services. Customers can immediately activate these services and resources via dedicated self-service online portals that are integrated with Singtel’s billing systems. Backed by comprehensive helpline support, these on-demand enterprise-grade ICT services will be delivered in a seamless, fully secured and trusted manner.

Mr Bill Chang, Singtel’s Executive Vice President of Business Group, said: “In the past, it was common for enterprises to wait for months for their equipment to be delivered and ICT services to be provisioned. Such delays often resulted in lost business opportunities - especially in today’s highly competitive global economy. The associated costs for businesses were also too high.

“We believe we are the world’s first intelligent utility provider. For the first time, businesses can enjoy a full suite of enterprise-grade on-demand solutions and services with the flexibility to scale up or down in minutes and pay for only what they use. This helps companies to be more agile, improve productivity and significantly reduce their costs. They can then make the most of their scarce resources and focus on their core competitive edge to drive growth.”

Number 1 telco provider of cloud services in the region

Today, more than 100,000 users trust Singtel’s cloud services to drive their business operations. This makes Singtel the leading telco provider of cloud services in this region. Singtel’s cloud services include on-demand computing resources, as well as software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions from Singtel’s mybusiness.singtel.com online portal.

Mr Chang said: “Cloud computing has gained tremendous traction in the region, as more enterprises look for compelling and cost-effective ICT services on a subscription basis. We aim to grow our cloud services with a CAGR of around 50% over the next three years. This is significantly faster than the 20% global growth rate projected by industry analysts1.

“With Singtel's deep experience in delivering Cloud services over the years, proven track record and reputation as a trusted business partner, we are enabling more enterprises each month to leverage our cloud services to power their business and gain a vital competitive edge.”

Mr Chang added that cloud services such as Singtel’s OneOffice suite, a collaboration with Google, can allow businesses to enjoy a comprehensive suite of essential business applications with cost savings of more than 90% by eliminating the need for heavy upfront infrastructure investments, ongoing maintenance and IT support costs.

“From a provider of pure carriage services, Singtel has transformed into a leading regional provider of next-generation ICT solutions. Today, more than 30% of our Singapore business revenues are from non-carriage services. Our target is to grow this to 50% in the next three years,” he said.

i.Luminate 2010 and Accelerate 2010 business innovations forums

Singtel, together with its partners, presents Asia’s largest business innovation forum – i.Luminate 2010. This event will feature more than 50 global distinguished speakers who are thought-leaders in innovation across industries and showcase over 100 intelligent ICT solutions that will help transform businesses for success. i.Luminate 2010 will be held at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre Hall 601 from 21-22 September.

Singtel will host the Accelerate 2010 conference on September 22 and 23 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre Hall 602. This event will be one of the largest gatherings of global and local software developers, entrepreneurs and research institutes in Asia Pacific. It aims to leverage the strengths and collaborative efforts of a community of partners to accelerate the development and commercialisation of innovative cloud services.

At Accelerate 2010, budding ICT entrepreneurs will have the unique opportunity to pitch their innovative ideas on a big stage to a panel of venture capitalists and representatives from Singtel, Optus and Singtel’s regional associates from six Asian markets. These ‘deal-room’ sessions aim to uncover the best ICT innovations and identify the next star products for the regional markets.

Mr Chang said: “Over the last year, we have partnered hundreds of ICT entrepreneurs to develop and commercialise exciting new cloud services. Singtel delivers the three ‘C’s to help our partners Connect, Collaborate and Create opportunities in the region together. We will share our regional expertise and customer insights with our partners to enable them to innovate faster and more effectively, and help them to seize business opportunities in Singapore and the fast growing Asia Pacific region through Singtel’s group of companies. Through these initiatives, we seek to further strengthen Singapore’s role as a regional ICT and cloud computing hub.”
