, 4 July 2008 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) announced that it has won three awards and two special mentions from the Singapore Human Resources Institute in this year’s Singapore Human Resources Awards.
The awards are
Strategic HR,
Learning & Human Capital Development, and
Employee Relations & People Management. The Special Mentions are
Quality Work-life and
Health & Employee Wellness.
The Strategic HR award attests to Singtel’s alignment of human resources and business objectives as well as a sound change management process in the organisation that has created a motivated workforce.

With the changes we face in the fast-paced telco industry, our top priority is to ensure our people are constantly upgrading and acquiring new knowledge and skills to stay relevant,’’ said Allen Lew, Singtel’s Chief Executive Officer, Singapore.

Learning & Human Capital Development award is a testament to the effectiveness of Singtel’s training and development programmes. These aim to hone employees’ performance skills and increase their levels of contribution. The
Employee Relations & People Managementaward is evidence that Singtel’s efforts to improve relationships between employees and employers have created a cohesive working environment within the organisation.
The
Special Mentions award recognises Singtel’s efforts and the platforms it has put in place for the well-being of its employees as well as its initiatives to help them achieve an effective work-life balance. Work-life balance is critical to increase employee satisfaction, productivity, performance and retention.
Singtel has over 20,000 employees worldwide and about half are based in Singapore.
