Singapore, 19 November 2015 – Singtel won three awards at the inaugural ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards. It was named one of ASEAN’s top 5 and top 50 publicly listed companies that practices exemplary corporate governance and is also recognised as one of the top 3 companies in Singapore.

“Singtel is honoured to be recognised by the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard for our excellence in corporate governance,” said Singtel Group CEO, Ms Chua Sock Koong.

“As one of the largest listed companies on the Singapore Exchange, we strongly believe that good governance drives sustainability and future growth for our shareholders and our stakeholders. As such, we’ve always been early adopters of stringent exchange requirements and continue to maintain standards beyond what is prescribed through well-defined policies and processes. We believe in pro-active communication and disclosure to ensure high levels of transparency. This latest recognition underlines our long-term commitment to ongoing improvement in corporate governance.”

Winners were selected based on rigorous evaluation by the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard, which benchmarks against international best practices on corporate governance.

The event, which was held in the Philippines on 14 November 2015, is an initiative of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum with the support of the Asian Development Bank and is hosted by the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines. The aim of this award is to recognise good corporate governance to encourage foreign direct investment into the region.
