Singtel to be RWS' official telco and IPTV partner

Singapore , 5 November 2009 - Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) and Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) today announced they have signed a S$21 million contract.

With this seven-year contract, Singtel will equip all 1,800 rooms in RWS' chain of six hotels across the 49-hectare integrated family destination with a state-of-the-art interactive in-room multimedia entertainment system and high-speed wireless Internet access. It will also provide RWS with location-based mobile advertising capabilities and an innovative fleet management system to enhance its VIP limousine services.

In-room entertainment system

Singtel has developed a next-generation multimedia solution that will provide hotel guests with a powerful and exciting in-room entertainment system. Guests can enjoy unlimited high-speed wireless Internet access, games, music and the latest movies and television programmes from Singtel's mio TV, including Singapore's largest selection of true video-on-demand and high definition content. From mid-2010, guests can catch all the sports action of the Barclays Premier League and ESPN STAR Sports exclusively on mio TV.

Through its intuitive user interface, guests can view the abundant entertainment, shopping and dining options available at the resort. Future enhancements will enable guests to browse snapshots of their visit to RWS attractions.

Location-based mobile advertising

Singtel's location-based mobile advertising service will allow RWS customers to receive SMS or MMS messages at pre-defined locations. Hence, Singtel subscribers will be the first to receive information about the latest promotions when they arrive at Sentosa or when they visit RWS attractions. Singapore

Limousine management system

Singtel's limousine management system will allow RWS to streamline its guest transfer services and enhance customer care.

The system will be used to handle all limousine transfer requests, thus reducing paperwork and administrative tasks. It will automatically alert drivers of incoming requests and allow them to communicate with hotel staff via touchscreen mobile devices.

In addition, the system will accurately monitor the location of RWS' fleet of limousines via a web portal. This will help hotel staff to prepare for the arrival of VIP guests and respond quickly to unforeseen events, such as traffic jams and vehicle breakdowns.

Mr Allen Lew, Singtel's CEO Singapore, said: "Singtel is excited to support Resorts World Sentosa as its official telco and IPTV partner. This contract affirms Singtel's transformation into a leading multimedia and infocomm solutions provider and underscores our commitment to constantly develop new and innovative solutions that meet our customers' needs.

"We look forward to working closely with RWS to set a new benchmark in the hospitality industry and further enhance Singapore's reputation as a premier tourist destination."

Mr Tan Hee Teck, CEO of RWS, said: "We are proud to partner one of the biggest brand names in Singapore. Resorts World Sentosa strives to provide its customers top-notch service. Whether it is in the five-star guest experience or in-room entertainment content, we are confident that Singtel will help us deliver those less visible but important aspects of customer service."
