Singtel customers also enjoy simple one-stop solutions in ASEAN
Singapore, 5 October 2006 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel), announced today that its ASEAN joint venture ACASIA has signed an agreement with Vietnam Posts and Telecommunication Group (VNPT) to provide managed network services in ASEAN.
ACASIA is a managed network service provider jointly set up by Singtel and five other major telecommunication companies in Asia in 1995. Besides Singtel, the other owners are CAT Telecom (Thailand), PLDT (Philippines), PT Indosat (Indonesia), TelBru (Brunei) and TM (Malaysia). VNPT officially became the seventh member of ACASIA in March 2006.
VNPT will work with ACASIA to supply a number of managed network services, including support, data transmission and value-added services. It will also invest in a service node inVietnam that will be connected with the nodes of other members to provide a seamless end-to-end service to business customers.
Mr Wong Soon Nam, Singtel’s Vice President of Business Marketing and a member of ACASIA’s Board of Directors, said, “We are pleased to work with VNPT to support their move into the global telecommunications market to compete with the leading carriers of today.
“At the same time, our global customers are able to enjoy a convenient one-stop solution when they come to this region where most markets are still closed. Working with Singtel and ACASIA removes the hassle of coordinating with multiple operators and parties for their telecommunication requirements.
Mr Lam Thanh Vinh, VNPT’s Vice President, said, “The cooperation with ACASIA and other company members is a golden opportunity for VNPT to venture into newer markets, and acquire advanced technology for better service. This would also be a chance for our other partners who are keen to do business in Vietnam to work with a well-established provider like VNPT and offer a globally-connected high-quality data communication network to Vietnamese customers.”
