Singapore, 1 September 2019 – It was an epic clash of skills and a test of teamwork at Singtel’s PVP Inter-Campus League. After two exhilarating days of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang action, the Institute of Technical Education’s team Holy and Serpentine, and Singapore Institute of Management’s team Unstable Network outplayed 11 other teams to claim coveted spots at the grand finals in December.
Mr Arthur Lang, CEO of International Group at Singtel, said, “Good game and well played to the advancing teams! Gaming is growing into a huge phenomenon especially among young digital natives who consider it as more than just entertainment but a lifestyle choice. Through our grassroots initiatives such as the PVP Inter-Campus League, we want to build a healthy community for our local gamers to share in their passion, chase their dreams and just have some good fun! We’re looking forward to doing more with the gaming community to help drive the growth of the scene in Singapore and the region.”
Mr Ong Ye Kung, Singapore’s Minister of Education and Guest-of-Honour at the event, said, ““Gaming is becoming more popular. It can be harnessed as a tool to engage the young, to encourage social interactions and even creative lesson delivery. Initiatives such as SingTel’s PVP Inter-Campus League are a step in a positive direction.”
More than 450 local tertiary students from universities, polytechnics, private institutions and the Institute of Technical Education participated in the PVP Inter-Campus League. The three advancing teams will play for more than S$20,000 worth of cash and prizes at PVP @ Singapore Comic Con which will also feature the grand finals of Singtel’s regional PVP Corporate League.
