Singapore, 14 November 2011 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced that a brand new action-packed channel will be available on mio TV Channel 54 starting 15 November.

Called KIX HD, this exciting High Definition channel features high-energy series, blockbuster movies, the best fight events from around the world and epic anime during the day. At night, the channel will give viewers a late-night dose of the best thriller, horror, and suspense movies from Asia and Hollywood. The addition of this channel brings the total number of High Definition channels on mio TV to eight.

“KIX HD is all set to pump up the adrenaline levels at mio TV,” said Mr Goh Seow Eng, Chief, Digital Home. “We are very pleased to be the first stop for this brand new channel which is tailored specifically for Asian audiences, and are certain that our thrill-seeking viewers will quickly sink their teeth into it!”

The channel is a high-definition hybrid of Tiger Gate Entertainment’s existing KIX and Thrill channels. As one of Asia's only genre-specific channels, KIX HD delivers non-stop 24/7 action and thriller entertainment with the clarity of high definition, specially selected for Asian audiences.

KIX HD starts off with a slate of great programmes such as Expedition Impossible (Wednesdays, 9pm). From the producers of Survivor and The Apprentice, Expedition Impossible features teams of ordinary people doing the extraordinary as they compete in the biggest adventure of their lives. The series was one of the highest-rated shows in the United States this summer and is set to send Asian viewers through the most exhilarating journey on TV this fall.

The popular anime series Ghost in the Shell screens Wednesdays at 5pm and the channel has its light-hearted moments with movies such as the stoner action comedy Pineapple Express (24 Nov, 8pm) starring Seth Rogan and James Franco, who was nominated for a Golden Globe award for his performance in the film.

In December, three pulse-pounding TV shows will be featured every Wednesday: Expedition Impossible, Bully Beatdown, where bullied victims finally get revenge; and A Yaksa, a beautifully shot, adrenaline-charged action drama series set in ancient Korea.

Sundays nights are filled with action-packed Hollywood movies Grind (4 December), Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (11 December), A History of Violence (18 December) and Flags Of Our Fathers (25 December).

For its Thrill Nights segments, two blood-chilling movies will be played every night in December, including many Hollywood thrilling blockbusters such as Hellraiser, 30 Days of Night; Asia's best thrillers including Old Boy, Ju-On, Dark Water; critically acclaimed classics such as Children Of The Corn and The Man Who Knew Too Much (by Alfred Hitchcock); and the dark and fascinating City Of Lost Children directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie) and Marc Caro (Delicatessen).

KIX HD is currently exclusively available in Singapore with launches planned in other regions soon.
