Yeo Siak Goon's paintings are the outcome of his experience as a graphic artist and his informal art training under Leo Hee Tong. This painting Communication & Info SII was acquired from the Ministry of Communications and Information 1987 art exhibition. Yeo also spent time painting with the Singapore Watercolour Society, however this early watercolour is an abstract work rather than a realistic landscape that the Society's painters were often associated with. Yeo developed the flat translucent colours with large amounts of negative space into a personal style in the late 1980s. The artworks use similar colour palettes and varied amorphous forms as washes. Yeo has since moved to painting silhouetted nudes in tropical backgrounds.
