Mohan Singh (b. 1972) is well-known for his paintings of youth and the positive energy derived from these works. Exhibiting widely in his home city of Delhi and in Mumbai and Bangalore, his art is easily recognisable. The portraits of young people cover themes of relationships, the future, and areas of daily life. His drawing and colouration is vibrant, with larger compositions attaining a larger-than-life characterisation, as in his painting Companions. Singh draws his figures in the academic style of the eminent Delhi Art College, but the bright contemporary-styled backgrounds challenge the outlook of his work and bring them up-to-date.
Singh has held at least 11 solo exhibitions in India, Japan and Germany. He has also won several awards from local colleges as well as the South Asian Friendship Scholarship (2003) for studies in Japan.
