This is a later Resting piece by Cheong Soo Pieng with a perceptible sense of repose and sanctuary. 

The painting is imprinted with foliage, and resembles traditional batiks with its gold and earth colour tones. Done in the style of Soo Pieng’s later works, the poised figures with elongated limbs are an appropriation from wayang kulit. The two women at the centre of the painting sit in seclusion. A sense of intimacy and security is created by the surrounding greenery and the goat grazing peacefully. 

The artist stayed in Bali in 1952 and 1977. Both journeys led to the creation of many new artworks in a new style of painting. Soo Pieng had many paintings and drawings where he combines two women in a composition. In each painting, the postures, colours and surroundings are varied. Another painting Resting, 1953, is also in the Singtel collection.
