This painting shows a shift in Tiong Tian Tong's works. Painted in Beijing where the artist had his formal art training at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Tiong has continued to paint en plein air. The view presents a little street and its houses on a cold clear winter day. The study of neutral tones is done with a lighter hand and Tiong has used the natural light to advantage. The artwork was acquired for the Singtel collection in 1999.
