Prabhakara Jimmy Quek's signature landscape paintings are inspired by natural phenomena. The changing aspects of light, waves, cloud and sky are expressed in his impressionistic paintings. The outcomes are usually inspiring mountain-top views, using a palette of deep blue hues with strong vermillion accents. He uses a variety of brushstrokes - some very quick frenetic movements, and others broad and sweeping. His paintings are often vehicles for a spiritual journey, starting with conflict and ending in a relief of peace. Many of Prabakhara's works are based on his Buddhist belief and outcomes of meditation.
This series of impressionistic artworks had won the artist awards from the UOB Painting of the Year competition and the IBM Art Award. Other works by Prabhakara in the Singtel collection are The Bodhi Tree (2000) and New Year Romance (2002).
