Realise the potential of 5G with the right partner

“To fully understand and realise the power of 5G, enterprises should seek a partner who can marry the technology capabilities with real-world experience, knowledge and implementation insights to navigate the new network requirements. “

While industries, economies and individuals are anxious to embrace the wondrous opportunities it promises, 5G will take time to spread beyond its current hotspots to reach all corners of the island. Enterprises wanting to be 5G ready need a capable partner. Here are some considerations.

Multi-access edge compute infrastructure

The ultra-low latency and high-bandwidth capabilities of 5G permit groundbreaking exploration in the way we work and play.

5G and Multi-access Edge Computing’s (MEC) propensity to integrate with technologies such as analytics and augmented, virtual or mixed reality allows enterprises to leverage the low latency in a wide range of little or no lag times applications. MEC can better serve mission-critical data requirements such as remote surgery, smart manufacturing, autonomous driving and more.

Ubitus became the first enterprise to come on board for a 5G cloud gaming trial conducted on Singtel’s 5G and MEC platform. This trial has pushed the envelope on cloud gaming as gamers’ reflexes and instincts are tested during immersive, hyper-realistic experiences while achieving 85% lower latency than 4G.

An ecosystem of collaborative partners

Enterprises will be able to enjoy the benefits of 5G and MEC by having access to new, innovative 5G solutions developed by Singtel's growing ecosystem of solution providers and app developers.

Through the 5G ecosystem, enterprises enjoy benefits that include industry knowledge, system integration and application selling. They can also gain access to viable markets outside of their usual footprint, and a plethora of opportunities to deliver services that drive business revenue.

Real-world experience and knowledge

To fully understand and realise the power of 5G, enterprises should seek a partner who can marry the technology capabilities with real-world experience, knowledge and implementation insights to navigate the new network requirements.

We have deployed the nation’s first 5G standalone (SA) trial network at the 5G Garage testing facility as we continue to provide enterprises with early access to 5G, enabling them to experiment, develop and trial 5G networks. Utilising a 3.5GHz spectrum and advanced massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology, enterprises looking to harness the power of 5G to future-proof their organisations can jumpstart their digital transformation at 5G Garage.

To date, more than 20 start-ups and enterprises in areas such as robotics, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and drones have successfully developed and advanced multiple 5G use cases.

As security becomes a critical enterprise-wide priority, enterprises should also consider a partner’s proven experience and track record in overcoming the security challenges of today’s threat landscape. With 5G deployments, attack surfaces will increase given the greater number of connections and huge volumes of data transferred. An able partner must be able to provide integrated, security-by-design solutions and services for holistic enterprise protection.

Work with the right 5G partner to develop innovative solutions that drive business growth.
