1) Make sure you have the latest version of iOS or Android installed on your mobile device.
- For Android, it is usually under Settings – System/About Phone – Software Update.
- For iOS, it is under Settings – General – Software Update.
2) Make sure the CAST app is up to date.
- CAST app can be updated via Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
3) Make sure your device is connected to the same wireless network as your Chromecast.
- Chromecast needs to be on the same Wi-Fi network in order to connect.
Specifically for Chromecast viewing
Make sure the Chromecast's name does not contain any special characters.
- Special characters in the Chromecast name (like emojis or apostrophes) will prevent it from being seen by the CAST app.
- To resolve this issue, launch the Chromecast app on your casting device, select the Chromecast name, and remove any special characters.
- After changing the name of your Chromecast, restart the CAST app and look for the Cast icon when playing a TV show or movie.
4) To minimize the jerky stream. When you are casting from your mobile device to a smart TV, it is best to deselect or turn off the Auto-motion function on your Samsung TV, or a similar setting on your smart TV.
5) Do note that smart TVs have a resolution upscale feature when you stream directly through your CAST app on your smart TV, or AirPlay/Chromecasting onto a larger smart TV screen. With that, there will always be a lower quality pixel resolution when you compare a large screen versus your mobile screen stream.
