Typical local and international download speeds

The following is based on more than 200 measured readings for each Fibre Broadband plan across peak and off-peak hours. It is validated from October to December 2024.

Peak hours are generally from 7pm - 1am, while off-peak hours are generally from 1am - 7pm.

Fibre Broadband Plan Typical Local Download Speed for Wired Connection* Typical Local Upload Speed for Wired Connection* Typical International Download Speed for Wired Connection*
1Gbps & Unlimited Fibre Plan 925.95 - 927.01Mbps 921.24 - 922.15Mbps 716.53 - 806.62Mbps
2Gbps Fibre Plan* 1810.37 - 1846.10Mbps 1055.97 - 1068.49Mbps 1364.41 - 1714.38Mbps
3Gbps Fibre Plan 2479.59 - 2768.89Mbps 2491.40 - 2792.90Mbps 1602.35 - 2346.32Mbps
5Gbps Fibre Plan 4611.37 - 4665.38Mbps 4615.71 - 4652.32Mbps 3469.04 - 4152.54Mbps
10Gbps Fibre Plan 7470.99 - 8014.25Mbps 7765.43 - 7860.68Mbps 4061.71 - 4231.52Mbps

*The typical download speed range is computed to reflect that, at least 90% of the time, a user should experience the lower bound speed or higher.
^Download speeds for 2Gbps Fibre Plan reflects an aggregated speed of 2 speedtest readings done simultaneously on 2 client devices.

How Singtel's typical speed results are obtained

The broadband download speeds were computed based on the transfer of files between the end-user points and the speed test servers where the speed is determined by the time taken to complete the file transfers.

Two test clients located in Singapore (Queenstown & Serangoon) will be used, with local speed test servers located in Queenstown and Paya Lebar. While international speed test server is in Oregon, United States.

The list of file sizes used for testing are as follows:

Type of Connection No. of Streams File Size/Stream Test Duration
TCP 20 - 100 8k - 128 KBytes 20 - 40 secs

The following was the end-user device used for the speed test:

Not getting published download speeds? Try these tips and tricks.

There are several factors that can affect your download speed. Follow these tips if you're not able to get the published download speeds:

  • If you are subscribing to a 1Gbps and above plan, ensure your Computer's Hardware Specification meets the following minimum requirements:
    Windows User Mac User
Windows 10 and above Mac OS X
Intel i3 Processor or equivalent and above
    4GB Ram
Minimally Cat 5e Cable for Plan less than 5Gbps & Cat 6 Cable for Plan 5Gbps and above
    Built-in Ethernet Port
1G Base-T, 2.5G Base-T and 10G Base-T is recommended to achieve the respective bandwidth accordingly
  • Check if applications are running background downloads that slow down your speed
  • Check if any security software such as anti-virus and firewall are interrupting your network traffic, causing a slowdown in speed
  • Limit the number of computers/devices concurrently connected, as heavy bandwidth usage can cause slowness in speed
  • Use a Wired Connection instead of a wireless connection, as wireless connections are subject to environmental factors1

WiFi speed also depends on the extent of WiFi channel congestion, which tends to be congested during peak usage time, especially if you stay in dense residential units. Additionally, there might be heavy traffic at the Website/Application you are visiting, causing a slowdown in your experienced speeds.

1Environmental factors include but are not limited to: Brick walls, Concrete flooring, Steel plate reinforced flooring, Thick structural wall, pillar (all with steel reinforcements), Filled fish tank, TV, Hi-fi, Mirror, CPU Casing.
